a truly impressive site:

Wikipedia   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

While a lot of trash can be found in the Internet world, Wikipedia is definitely an absolute highlight. When I grew up, knowledge came in form  of heavy books,  expensive encyclopaedias categorized from "A" to "Z". One of those books alone cost a fortune and for most people the way into the nearest library was the only option to quench their thirst for knowledge.

I have to admit that in these times I wasn't very “thirsty”, but now I'm a strong believer that education, progressiveness and enlightenment are important pillars for peace and freedom. Wikipedia facilitates access to knowledge and science with the costs reduced to Internet access for a lot of people in different societies not able to afford costly books and education, thus contributing heavily to enlightenment for a better world.

If it would be up to me: the next candidate for the Nobel Prize in Peace would be Wikipedia!

sites covering a wide range of the 4x4 and offroad world, but also other interesting stuff:

Collyn Rivers’s website  http://www.caravanandmotorhomebooks.com/articles/old/index.htm

…a lot of interesting reading can be found on his web page; if you still have questions I made the experience that he is very approachable and responds in a very friendly and timely manner on email enquiries.

Robert Pepper’s website   http://www.gpsvehiclenavigation.com/rmp/author

…again, a lot of interesting reading here; I can also highly recommend his books (I read and own both):

GPS Vehicle Navigation in Australia, and

The 4WD Handbook

The 4WD Handbook is the most comprehensive book about 4WDs and 4x4 driving I ever read. It covers every realm in a very balanced approach wrt the physics behind 4x4 driving, thus making it a rewarding experience for any reader, no matter whether she/he has a technical background or not. His book about GPS will answer all your questions about navigating in the bush.
