… before I had here 2 sections, one for repair and 1 for maintenance… but what is the difference between maintenance work and repair?…Wikipedia convinced me that it is o.k. to amalgamate it into 1 sections...

Maintenance & Repairs

The Terracan is a quite reliable 4WD based

on my experience over the last 6 years.

However, as it is the case with every

other vehicle, there are a view items

that need more care.

Greasing of the propeller shaft should

not be neglected, tyre rotation

is crucial to get the best out

of them and the idler arm

might need to be re-

placed more frequently

as it is prone to bent

or to wear out.

Fortunately, parts

can be much easier

and cheaper sourced

now - e.g. on eBay,

just enter “Terracan”

and do a search.

With the required skills

and qualification it is

a relative inexpensive

undertaking for the

technical minded

owner to keep the

Terracan on the road.

My Terracan has now over 160,000 km on

the clock, still the first fuel injection pump, still the first LSD, no dramas at all.

Other ones might be not so lucky, but I believe it is not only luck - or lack of luck - that affects reliability:

IMO technical understanding and adopting Pirsig’s classical approach he describes in his book “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” plays a major part to maintain reliability least it works for me.
